Week 9 in Review

Look for write ups in the Times Ledger Newspapers-Bayside Times, Lauretlon Times, Flushing Times, etc. We also submit articles to the Queens Chronicle and Queens Courier.

Intermediates: Bayside 22, Bulldogs 8
The Bayside Raider Intermediates defeated the Jamaica Bulldogs this past Saturday at Kissena Corridor Field in Flushing. Please join us in wishing Justin Benavides a speedy recover from his shoulder injury!

Bantams: Raiders 8, Skyhawks 26
On a beautiful autumn day, the defensive play of both teams dominated the first half. The Raiders D allowed only one passing touchdown late in the 2nd quarter, and the Skyhawks defense denied repeated trips to the red zone by the Raider offense. The Raiders could not overcome their early mishaps in their loss to the Skyhawks. Josh Wallace and Frankie Marchione both ran hard, and Brian Contino was solid on both sides of the ball, but late Skyhawk TDs were too much for the Raiders. Sammy Jackson, Anthony Agro Brandon Jackson and Chukuma Udezeh also had strong games. With this loss, the Raiders are eliminated from playoff contention.

Pee Wees: Bayside 24, Kings Bay 14
The mud, wind and rain could not stop the ground attack of the Raiders offense. Ben Lim and Jaymon Williams powered the Raiders with 3 touchdowns, and Tyrell Plaza added the last one as the Raiders avenge an early season loss to Kings Bay. The defense was led by Michael Beccarelli and Sean Delgado. Raiders prepare for the Falcons next week

Junior Pee Wees:Bayside 0, Kings Bay 8
The Raiders played valiantly in the rain and the mud, but could not overcome an early turnover in their loss to Kings Bay.

Peanuts: Raiders 28, Falcons 6
The Bayside Raiders marched down field on their first series to score on a reverse to Ashton "wildcat" Glasgow, we left the half with 12 points as Christian "happy feet" Wright joined the touchdown fever! 2nd half Malik "sticky" Darden-Smith who has caught a reception in every game this season, managed to follow his blockers and rush for a touchdown as well. Finally quarterback Zaire Waithe added on to the final score with a td on a QB keeper! Newcomers "Mac" & Meadow Vera also contributed with a 15 yard reception for him and 22yds rushing on 3 carries for her!

Raiders are in the championship game on 12/5 for the 5th consecutive year!

Tonight, you can catch the Colorado at No. 12 Oklahoma game which begins at 7:30pm on ESPN. Friday, ESPN2 is airing the (6) Boise State Game/Utah game at Utah at 9:30pm.

On Saturday here are your games to watch:
• CBS
at 3:30, No8 LSU at Mississippi.
• ABC at noon, is the game I look forward to all year: No. 10 Ohio State vs. unranked Michigan. This year the showdown is in the Big House in An Arbor. It should be a no brainer for the Buckeyes, but this rivalry is so entrenched that even if Michigan was 0 for the season, they'd show up for this one. ABC is keeping the party going with the Penn State @ Michigan State game. I think the Lions come away with the W. At 8, No. 11 Oregon takes on the Wild Cats in Arizona.
• NBC is showing the UConn @ Notre Dame game. Charlie Weiss has had a rough year, and needs a win. UConn is playing for their fallen comrade. Should be an interesting game.
• The Big 10 Network at 3:30, there are 2 games: No. 16 Wisconsin at Northwestern, or Purdue at Indiana. I think the Spoilermakers take this one...
• ESPN, at Noon, we have another Big Ten game with Minnesota @ No. 13 Iowa. Iowa should be able to halt their 2 game skid, but the Badgers rare tough... Other regional action follows.
• ESPN2 for those more interested in regional action at noon enjoy the Boston College, North Carolina game in Boston.

Check here for the full week 12 schedule.

On Sunday at 1pm on FOX, it's The Falcons in the Swamp to face the Giants, fresh off a bye. On CBS at 4pm the Jets take on New England. I hate to say it, Tom Brady's taking Sanchize to school come Sunday afternoon. On NBC at 8, the Eagles will hopefully have their wings clipped by the Bears at Soldier Field, but the Bears have been a little on the clawless side lately. Hey, a newsletter author can dream, can't she? MNF on ESPN, the Titans visit the Texans.
